After you reinstall Windows, maybe your drive letter not sort by number list. So If you have multiple hard drives and each has several partitions sometimes Windows does not sort its drive letter based on the overall partition a hard disk drive and then the next, or if in the first row then after you reinstall Windows then the order does not like the original but you get used to sequence the previous partition.
If you want to change the order of partition drives to your liking then do the following steps:
1. Open Windows Explorer,
Right click on the icon [MyComputer], select [Manage].
2. Click [Disk Management] is in the tree [Storage].
3. Right click on the partition you want to change the drive letter it and then select [Change Drive Letter and Paths ...].
This method can only be done on the operating system Windows XP and 2000, if you want to do this in Windows 9x and ME
then you need a utility to sort the partition Partition Magic. If you use it, you can begin to Partition Magic and then the partition that you will change the drive letter of his right click select [Advanced] and select [Change Drive Letter]. This latter mode can also be used on all versions of Windows.
The disadvantage is that the process requires restart because Partition Magic actually change the drive letter in DOS mode.
Few tips, if you want to change a drive letter of a partition to a drive letter already used by another partition first try to replace the drive letter you want to use the partition into a drive letter other then just use the drive letter on partitions you want.
Example: You want to change the drive letter
partition F: to D:
but surely drive letter D: is already used by other partitions, now for the drive letter D: can be used then change the first partition that has
drive letter D: to another drive letter
eg X:, after that baruAnda change partition drive letter F: to D:
Note: For the first way above you can also change the drive letter to removable devices such a CD-ROM, CD-Writer, DVD-ROM, etc. by clicking on the drive icon. But if you use the utility to sort the partition Partition Magic you can not change like the above.
