Microsoft Network Monitor 3.1 can now be downloaded for free. There are a couple of interesting new features. Most important certainly is that one can now capture 802.11a/b/g management and data frames.
This greatly helps you troubleshoot wireless connections. I reviewed Network Monitor 3.0 sometime ago. Since then I have been using it a few times. I like this tool more and more. I also have Wireshark and Smartsniff installed on my desktop, but somehow I always start Network Monitor if I want to observe network activity. I suppose it is because I can get an overview quite fast with it. So far I don’t see important changes in the user interface of Network Monitor 3.1. WindowsNetworking just started a new tutorial about this great tool.
